Yay! Man Utd Possibly Set to get Michael Owen

July 3, 2009

According to ESPN’s Soccernet, former Newcastle striker Michael Owen is getting a medical examination at the Trafford Training Center, or Carrington, United’s training complex today. He could, if all goes well, be the newest United player. This is fantastic news after the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo.

It appears Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to snap up a player who is fourth in the all-time goalscorers list for his country.

Owen is wonderful finisher, and I think he shows a lot of the characteristics of the type of player we want at Man U. I’m sure a lot of people will be disappointed in this transfer, as Owen had a bad seaon in 08-09, but with the loss of both Tevez (his loan expired at the end of the season) and Ronaldo, Owen could slip right in comfortably between Berbatov and Rooney. Only time will tell, but I am excited to see how Owen will play out, if he does become the newest United player.

Yes, it is. The deal is a “pay as you play” with goal bonuses, I believe.
