Gene Kranz

October 2, 2009

I saw a phenomenal keynote speech by Gene Kranz recently, NASA flight director during the Apollo 13 Mission. He is the guy who coined the phrase, “Failure is not an option.”

To read more about Mr. Kranz, a true American Hero, go to Lessons in Manliness From Gene Kranz.

Was browsing through my facebook page and links and happened upon your website. Nice tribute. Good write-up. Actually, Hollywood coinced the phrase during the filming of Apollo 13. They took what he actually said and condensed it into a shorter sense of his intent. Enjoyed the read.

Thanks, Jean! I was truly inspired by Gene’s speech. It was hands down the best keynote I have ever attended – and I have attended quite a few! He is a powerful orator and his story is one that makes men today shiver knowing that they just can’t possibly compete with that type of manliness.
