In Like The Rose
As I type this out, I am sitting at a cheaply made desk of particle board in a secure military facility where U.S. and Canadian personnel come together to monitor air space over the two countries. We can see virtually every flight happening in this part of the world, including helicopters, weather balloons, you name it. I am just here to make sure the servers don’t crash, and when they do crash, there are people who know how to make them work again.
I start at the NYS Comptroller’s Office in a little over a week. I am looking forward to that, and have even begun preparing by researching security concepts and refreshing my IT security skills, as well as reading about Thomas P. DiNapoli, NY 54th Comptroller, and his team of auditors.
This is the longest I have been away from my newborn daughter since her birth. It has been almost one whole day already! I am not happy about it. Today is her 3 week anniversary in this world, and I am missing it. Sigh.
I write when I can. When the mood strikes. It is never anything worth reading. I apologize for that. Perhaps I shall post some of my writings on here. We shall see.
Check out Gracie’s Paris on myspace. We just put some new songs up.
UPDATE: Kim brought Leila out for a visit. I didn’t see her for almost 3 days, which doesn’t seem like long on paper, but it seemed like an eternity to me! She looks the same, but she seems to be more aware and smiling a little bit more. Very cool, indeed.
